Y2 – Great Fire of London

Great Fire of London Costume

Dear Parents,

As a way of providing your child with the best opportunity to find out about the Great Fire of London, we have arranged for History off the Page to spend the day with us on Monday 28th January 2019.

On this day your child will use practical activities and drama to find out what it was like living through the Great Fire. During the afternoon, the children will have investigated and found out about a specific job and family living in London in 1666. There will also be a story-telling session. The workshop will take place within normal school hours.

All children will be able to take part in these activities regardless of whether parent(s) have been able to make a contribution. However, if we do not receive a sufficient sum in voluntary contributions the visit will have to be cancelled since we are unable to cover the cost from the school funds. We therefore invite you to make a voluntary contribution, via School Money, of £10.00 to cover the cost.

A simple costume will help your child really feel part of the day – see attached for costume ideas.

We are still in need of a number of adult helpers for the whole day, so please email Mrs Babes (cbabes@burfordschool.co.uk) if you are able to help.

Kind Regards

Year 2 Team
