Production Rehearsal

Dear Year 5 and 6 Parents,

Due to several successful production rehearsals this week, it is no longer necessary for Year 5 chorus members to attend the extra rehearsal after school on Monday 15th July. We would still appreciate as many of the Year 6 cast to attend as possible in order to make the scene changes, singing, acting and choreography as slick as possible for show day.

Many thanks for your cooperation and support throughout the production process.

Y6 Production Rehearsals

In order to ensure we are show-ready, we will be holding our final full dress rehearsal after school on Monday (15th). We would be grateful if all Year 6 pupils could attend until 5pm.

Thank you for your understanding.

Year 5 SRE

Dear Parents,

Near to the end of this term, children in Year 5 are taught sex, relationship education (SRE).  The session for Year 5 will take place during the week beginning 15th July 2019 and for this, the children are split into boys and girls. The areas that are covered are broken down as follows:

 Year 5

Girls – Puberty and bodily changes, hygiene and periods – with Mrs Andrews & Mrs Barton.

Boys – Puberty and bodily changes, hygiene – with Mr Farina.

The subject will be taught through a series of videos, worksheets and real life products (such as deodorants, face wash etc).

If you would like to view some of the material, the Year 5 links specifically shown to girls are:

Information about what will be covered in Year 6 will be sent out next year, but will most likely cover the following:

Girls – understanding the menstrual cycle in more detail

Boys – understanding how and why sperm are made by males from puberty onwards.

Both – The function of different parts of the female and male reproductive systems (factual), how a baby is made.

The children will naturally have many questions during these sessions and opportunities will be given to ask questions, no matter how big or small, during class discussions.  They are also likely to have additional questions that they want to ask at home to understand more.

If you have any queries about this work, then please pop in to see us. Many thanks for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Barton, Mrs Andrews and Mrs Hodgson

Mary Poppins Further Information

Dear Y5 & Y6 Parents,

The Year 5 & 6 production of ‘Mary Poppins ’ is fast approaching.  Every child should come for every performance unless you have let your class teacher know that they cannot come.  Your children have all worked incredibly hard during rehearsals and this production will be the best it can be with everyone there.  We appreciate your help with this.

Could we ask that all Year 5 pupils wear black clothes for the performances, and their costumes must be in school on Monday, for the dress rehearsal.

Wednesday 17th July/Thursday 18th July – performance begins at 7pm

Drop off Year 6: 6.00pm

Drop off Year 5: 6.30pm

Collection (all children): 8.45pm

Unfortunately, during the interval all children will be supervised by staff on the playground and we ask that children remain on the playground at all times, after visiting the toilets. Due to the short amount of time, children will be unable to purchase and eat snacks, but we ask that they come to school with a water bottle.

On Thursday, there will be a matinee performance taking place from 1.30pm, however this performance will not require additional drop off and pickups as it is during school hours.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s class teacher.

Kind regards,

Year 5 and 6 Teachers
