Year 6

Y6 Assessments

Dear Y6 Parents,

A few parents have asked about the scaled scores and raw scores given on the results sheets you were sent yesterday.

In writing, based on your child’s writing throughout the course of the year, Miss Doncow and I have graded your child either as working below standard, towards standard, at standard or at above expected standard.  In science, we can only either grade your child as working at standard or has not met standard.

In reading, grammar/spelling and maths, the papers which your child sat in May, the KS2 test information you have been given contains a raw score (in reading, this is out of 50 total marks; in grammar and spelling, this is out of 70 total marks, 50 for grammar and 20 for spelling; in maths, this is out of 110 total marks across all three maths papers) and their scaled score.  If you child achieved a scaled score of 100 or above, they are working at expected standard.  If they achieved a scaled score of 110 or above, they are working above the expected standard.  The highest scaled score the Standard Testing Agency will award is 120.  This is for children who dropped very few marks in their papers.  Your information sheet will mark any scaled score of 100 or above as meeting standard, it will not say whether they are working at above expected standard.

We are very proud of the achievements of the Y6 children in their End Of KS2 assessments this year and very proud of the effort that they put into achieving these results throughout the year.  We would like to thank you all for supporting and guiding your child both academically and emotionally through this challenging year.

If you have any other questions, please let Miss Doncow or myself know.

Best wishes,

Judy Puddephatt

Production Rehearsal

Dear Year 5 and 6 Parents,

Due to several successful production rehearsals this week, it is no longer necessary for Year 5 chorus members to attend the extra rehearsal after school on Monday 15th July. We would still appreciate as many of the Year 6 cast to attend as possible in order to make the scene changes, singing, acting and choreography as slick as possible for show day.

Many thanks for your cooperation and support throughout the production process.

Y6 Production Rehearsals

In order to ensure we are show-ready, we will be holding our final full dress rehearsal after school on Monday (15th). We would be grateful if all Year 6 pupils could attend until 5pm.

Thank you for your understanding.

Mary Poppins Further Information

Dear Y5 & Y6 Parents,

The Year 5 & 6 production of ‘Mary Poppins ’ is fast approaching.  Every child should come for every performance unless you have let your class teacher know that they cannot come.  Your children have all worked incredibly hard during rehearsals and this production will be the best it can be with everyone there.  We appreciate your help with this.

Could we ask that all Year 5 pupils wear black clothes for the performances, and their costumes must be in school on Monday, for the dress rehearsal.

Wednesday 17th July/Thursday 18th July – performance begins at 7pm

Drop off Year 6: 6.00pm

Drop off Year 5: 6.30pm

Collection (all children): 8.45pm

Unfortunately, during the interval all children will be supervised by staff on the playground and we ask that children remain on the playground at all times, after visiting the toilets. Due to the short amount of time, children will be unable to purchase and eat snacks, but we ask that they come to school with a water bottle.

On Thursday, there will be a matinee performance taking place from 1.30pm, however this performance will not require additional drop off and pickups as it is during school hours.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s class teacher.

Kind regards,

Year 5 and 6 Teachers

Cricket Club Canx’d

Unfortunately Year 5-6 Cricket Club after school tomorrow (4th July) is cancelled due to the athletics competition.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Year 6 Transition

Please find attached a letter and information sheet regarding a Year 6 Transition Workshop and Questionnaire. Please send in consent forms by next Wednesday 3rd July.

Only the children who will be attending GMS or SWBGS will be asked to complete the questionnaire, if parental consent has been given, however all Year 6 children will complete the workshop

Year 6 Baby Photos

A reminder that we need the Year 6 baby pictures sent in to the school office as soon as possible. As it takes time to build the board, if we don’t receive them by next Friday (5th July) we won’t be able to include them in the guess the baby competition.

Thank you.
