STEM Week Lunchtime Sessions

Dear Parents

Our Burford STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) week will be taking place the week commencing 19th February.  We have an exciting line-up of activities planned for the children, which I hope you will all hear about during the week when the children get home from school!

Last year we ran some ‘lunch time sessions’ and these proved to be very popular. The objective of these sessions is to help the children make a link between science and maths at school, and where it is in action in everyday life. We also aim to sow the seed in their minds of a potential career in STEM related fields in the future.

In order to run these sessions, we are looking for volunteers who have (or have had) a career in a STEM related area. The sessions will run from 12.15 to 12.45 and we would expect each session to contain the following:

  • A brief introduction
  • Overview of career and education to get there
  • Most exciting/memorable parts of day to day job
  • What you enjoy about your career
  • Questions

These sessions will be open to Key Stage 2 children (Year 3-6) and will run in one of the classrooms.

If you are interested in volunteering to run a session, please get in touch with me at

Kind regards,

Nicola Collins
