Wellbeing Tip

Dear Parents,

This week marks ‘Mental Health Awareness Week’ and in school we have been having further age-appropriate conversations about mental health through our circles and PSHE lessons whilst ensuring we stop each day for a meditation activity.

Whilst we have not made it our focus this week, the theme of the week for this year has been ‘Body Image’. We are pleased that through our PSHE programme, Jigsaw, that children in Year 5 and Year 6 have received lessons on body image, their views of ‘beauty’ and becoming increasingly literate when faced with an array of distorted images on social media platforms. The feedback from the children was overwhelmingly positive when interviewing them on their thoughts on these lessons last term.

The Mental Health Foundation has some brilliant resources and publications. There are a number of ‘How to…’ guides on the link below that are easy to read and offer some really useful advice. I also recommend following them on social media should you have it.
