Year 3 Stone Age Day

Dear Parents,

Our ‘Stone Age Day’ is on Friday 9th November 2018 at The Chiltern Open Air Museum during school hours. The children will have the opportunity to take part in two workshops related to our topic – ‘Stone Age Workshop’ and an ‘Archaeological Dig Workshop’. Children will need to be dressed in outdoor clothing for this trip (see details below) as the majority of the day will take place outside and the trip will go on whatever the weather!
They will need…
• Outdoor trousers/tracksuit bottoms
• Two pairs of footwear – wellies for outdoors, indoor shoes to board the coach and a bag to store their spare shoes
• Burford School jumper to help identify them as part of our school
• Waterproof jacket/coat with a hood
• A disposable packed lunch
• Water (no glass bottles please)
As the visit takes place within school hours, then under the terms of the 2002 Education Reform Act no charge can be made by the school for the visit. May I therefore invite you to make a voluntary contribution of £16 via SchoolMoney to cover the cost. All children will be able to take part in the visit regardless of whether parent(s) have been able to make a contribution. However, if we do not receive a sufficient sum in voluntary contributions the visit will have to be cancelled since we could not cover the cost from the school funds.

We will be in need of parent helpers so if you would like to accompany us on the trip and have a current DBS, please make contact with Miss Barnes or Mr Farina directly.

Best wishes,
Miss Barnes and Mr Farina
