Dear Parents/Friends/Guardians
Staffing
Mrs Chadwick will be taking early retirement at Christmas. Due to family reasons this has come about sooner than anticipated and I know Mrs Chadwick has said this is one of the hardest decisions she has had to make. She will leave her mark on the school in many ways, especially her musical expertise which has made a great impression on many children over the last 24 Years. We shall miss Mrs Chadwick very much and I know many of you will be very sad that she is leaving.
I am delighted to inform you that Mrs Lavis will be teaching Willow class on a full time basis from Christmas for the rest of the academic year. This will ensure continuity for the children, which of course is our main priority. Chris Lavis is a qualified, experienced teacher and has 20 years of teaching experience behind her. She has worked at Burford for 7 years including covering PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment time) for other teachers. She has expertise in many areas including specialising in PE, English and Drama.
Harvest
Festival
Just a reminder about Harvest Festival next Friday. Please bring any gifts on Friday 28th September. They will be distributed the following Wednesday by Y6 pupils. If you are CRB checked and you can spare some time on Wednesday 3rd October to help with the distribution of gifts to the elderly, please contact either Mrs Slater or Mrs Hunt in the school office. Small containers (shoe box size) would also be gratefully received.

Mr Simms
We would like to buy a gift to show our appreciation for Mr Simms hard work in his many roles throughout the school. He was a very valued member of staff and if you feel you would like to contribute, please send donations in to the school office.
Wanted
Mrs Chadwick would like to know if there is any one who has a stereo amplifier they don’t want, or someone who knows how to fix one! Our school one is broken and we would be glad of any assistance.

Elaine Dunham
We would like to offer our deepest sympathy to the family of Elaine. Many staff were able to attend her funeral and I know everyone appreciated your understanding so they could pay their respects. She will be remembered fondly at Burford and we will be planting a tree as a memory of her kindness and tireless work for the school. Valley News will be publishing all of the tributes written by the children in Y6.

School Profile
The School profile is now published on the web. Parents will be able to view the latest data on the DirectGov website, at the following address: http://schoolsfinder.direct.gov.uk/8252220/school-profile

Theatre in the Villages
Don’t forget to buy your tickets for Theatre in the Villages latest exciting production ‘Barkbelly & Terrific Tales’. It is on Wednesday 26th September, 6.30pm at St Marys Church, Marlow Bottom.

School Uniform - Apologies
We have just been notified by our supplier that our outstanding order for 30” sweatshirts and 45” ties has been further delayed, this is due to difficulties experienced by their suppliers. They are now expecting delivery of the unbadged sweatshirts on 11th October. They will then embroider the badges and deliver to us as soon as possible after that date. The ties will be with us as soon as they receive them from the supplier.
Please be assured that we have accurate records of all outstanding orders and that they will be sent home via your children as soon as they arrive. If you have any queries regarding your outstanding orders please contact Leanda Robson via the school office or on 01628 475697. Future orders should be made on an order form available from the school office or website and if the items are in stock, they will be with you within 2 to 3 days.
If there are any parents who are desperate for a sweatshirt, we have some that we could give you from our old stock for nothing, which you could return when new stocks arrive - this could then go into the emergency supplies/spares box. Although we do not have any old stock 30” sweatshirts, the old stock 28” is slightly larger than the size 28” new stock.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Reception pupils 2008/9
If you have a child who will be 5 during the academic year September 2008 – August 2009, don’t forget to fill in the form to apply for a school and return to County by 5pm 16th November or midnight if submitted on-line. We have stocks of the County Booklet and forms if you would like one.

Visits
As part of their project on Tudors, Y4 went on a trip to Mary Ardens house yesterday. They thoroughly enjoyed the whole visit but particularly enjoyed the costume guides re-enacting tudor life such as cooking in the kitchen and eating the food! The accompanying parents agreed it was a worthwhile experience.
Don’t forget the Y5 Residential trip meeting on Monday 24th September at 7pm in the school hall.
