Newsletter - 7th December 2007
Dear Parents/Friends/Guardians
Christmas
Bazaar
We made a fantastic £1500 at the Christmas Bazaar last week! Thank you very much to everyone who helped, especially to Mrs Sheila Langston who practically lived here for the last couple of weeks!
OfSTED
As you are all aware we had a visit from OfSTED this week. The staff worked extremely hard and we were lucky to have an excellent Inspector, Mr Graham Lee, who managed to fit a lot into his one day visit! The Inspection was a ‘RTI’ (Reduced Tariff Inspection) hence the report will be only 1000 words of prose. It will be finalized by next week and published within 3 weeks. You will all be receiving a copy shortly.
Xmas
Parties
Individual letters from all classes regarding arrangements for the Christmas Parties will be going out next week. A reminder that the party day is Thursday 20th December and the children need to wear their uniforms to school and bring party clothes to change in to.
Christmas
cards
Please could you remember to put first name, surname and class on the envelopes of the Christmas cards that are posted in the post box – we have many children with the same first names and it would be a shame if the cards didn’t reach the correct person.
KS1
Concert
Don’t forget to order your tickets for the KS1 concert ‘ Barny’. Performances are on Tuesday 11th December and Wednesday 12th December at 1.30pm in the school hall. Please enter the hall via the firedoor at the rear of the school as the children will all be sitting in front of the doors near the corridor.
Foundation
Stage Nativity
The Foundation Stage nativity was wonderful! They all performed really well and looked excellent in their costumes. Well done to everyone!
Orienteering
Here are some super pictures of the Orienteers who won the British Schools Orienteering Championships last week!

DUTY TO PROMOTE DISABILITY EQUALITY
Many thanks to all who took the trouble to complete and return the questionnaire on this important issue. Your comments are most useful to us and will help us in making Burford a better place for people with disabilities.
Peter Lerner
Governor
French
Club: Years 1, 2 and 3
If your child currently attends French Club and wishes to continue next term, please ensure you return your slip and payment to Mrs Barlow by Monday 10th December. Also, there are a few extra places available for anyone who would like to join French Club in January, either on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon, from 3.20 to 4.00 pm. If you would like your child to join please contact Mrs Barlow via the school office.
Marlow
Christmas Carol Singing
It was lovely to see so many people at the Christmas lights service in Marlow. It was pleasing to see ex Burford pupils starring in the band! If any ex pupils who play brass or woodwind would like to join us on our carol concert evening please feel free to come along on Tuesday 18th December at 7.00pm. Of course parents are warmly invited and we look forward to seeing you there!
Achievements
We would like to wish Imogen Shepherd and George Longhurst good luck this weekend when they will be representing High Wycombe in Kelkheim, Germany in the Swimming championships! They have both achieved astounding success within Wycombe District swimming club and after next week these two outstanding aquatic athletes will be recognized as International swimmers!
Reminders
Please could we remind people to bring in any money for raffle tickets and also that we still have some of the Marlow schools Choir CD’s left if you would like to purchase one.
