Newsletter - 21st December 2007
Dear Parents/Friends/Guardians
Thank you to everyone for your support this term. It’s been a long term and I think everyone is ready for a rest! I would like to thank all the staff and governors for their hard work and particularly thank those who are leaving today. We wish them all well for the future. As this will be the last newsletter this term, I wish you all a happy Christmas and a peaceful new year and I look forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday 8th January 2007!

Xmas Parties
The parties all went well and as always the children managed to consume a large quantity of food! They all looked very grown up and trendy in their party clothes!

KS1 Concert
The KS1 concert ‘Barny’ went extremely well and the children were delightful - singing, dancing and acting brilliantly! By the end of the week they had performed four times – once to KS2,twice to parents and once to the OAP’s! They all looked fantastic in their costumes and it was a lovely way to finish off the term. Well done!

Achievements
Imogen Shepherd and George Longhurst managed to get 12 medals between them when they represented Wycombe in Kelkheim, Germany in the Swimming championships! Both were unwell but still managed to do brilliantly, with personal bests being broken! In total George won 2 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze and Imogen won 5 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze. Congratulations and well done to both of them! Well done also to Alice Walker, Alexander Richardson and Alisha Maddocks for achieving their step two violin and to Millie Spouse who gained her Royal Schools of Music Grade 2 violin.

Carol Evening
We continued with the wonderful Burford tradition of a family sing-a-long around the Christmas tree last Tuesday. The evening was well attended and enjoyed by all. The choir and band performed brilliantly and the enthusiastic singing of ‘On the first day of Christmas….’ went down very well too!(For those who were there, we have put the signs somewhere very safe for next year!) The evening went with a swing, helped along by the mulled wine and mince pies – thanks to FOB for that – and we hope everyone will make it again next year.

OAP Party
The OAP’s really enjoyed their party last Friday, where they were treated to a performance of ‘Barny’ by KS1 and a selection of carols by Mrs Chadwick’s choir. They were served delicious sandwiches and cakes, as well as being continually topped up with tea! The Y6 children who acted as waiters and waitresses were a credit to the school and many of the guests commented on how polite and courteous they were. Well done to Y6 and also the choir and KS1 children.
Christmas Tag Rugby
Well done to all the teams who took part in the 6-a-side Tag Rugby competition last week. They all made an excellent effort to dress up according to their team name and did extremely well to brave the cold! The winners of the Y3/4 section were Bulls Baubles and the winners of the Y5/6 section were Rileys Reindeers!
