It is important that children wear sensible shoes at school.  Platform, heeled or sling-back shoes are dangerous.  Sensible shoes need to be supportive of the growing foot. Trainers are not allowed for everyday school wear because they add nothing to the smartness of the uniform. Open toed sandals are not safe, and boots are a fashion item, which not all children are able to have. If children wish to walk to school in boots, they are, of course, free to do so, but during school time all children must wear dark coloured, enclosed shoes (light coloured shoes are permitted in the summer).

Parents are urged to encourage their children to wear clothing – particularly hats – which offer protection from the sun during the summer months. Weatherproof clothing is essential to keep out the cold and wet – particularly for those walking to school.
