Running Race 1 - Bluecoats - 10.10.2019

On Thursday 10th October, Burford Running team attended the first running race of the season at Reading Bluecoats School. Once we had arrived the whole team walked the course with Mr Garner and Mr Mettler so that the team could see the whole course and where they would be going. All of the teams then had to go to the safety induction with the race organisers. Up next the races started, the year 3 and 4 girls were first and went to the start line. Poppy R finished in an impressive 4th place with Harriet R and Gia P also finishing inside the top 16. Up next the year 3 and 4 boys got ready for their race and set off at great speed. Zach G finishing in 6th place in what was he first ever running race. Moving up a age group came the year 5 and 6 girls in what was a very strong field of runners. Libby M came in 16th, along with Amelia B and Charlie G inside the top 40. The last race of the day was the year 5 and 6 boys. Again it was a very strong field of runners, but the field was led by two members of Burford. William H and Jack R coming in 1st and 2nd, pushing each other to the limit all the way around the course. Josiah W and Josh V also fished inside the top 25 for the boys. Burford scored better in the first race this season than last which made for a very happy coach ride home. Next up in the running season is Lightwater on the 14th November.
